A wide clearing split through an even vaster meadow of tall grass. There was a forest in the distance, where a cool spring dwelled, riddled with colorful fish and lightning bugs in the late summer. Kira knew this place well, she loved to train here in the spring when the area was filled with flowers. Unfortunately though, it was naught but a lonely clearing in the dead of winter. Snow was due to come soon, the skies gray with the impending promise. Even though there was a heavy chill in the air, her body was warm, adrenaline filling her as she waited for a special challenger to arrive. Closing her eyes, she focused her spirit silently, listening to the whispers of the wind.

Sesshomaru appeared at her shoulder. "Good afternoon, Kira," he acknowledged quietly before turning to the surroundings. "A fitting place for our match," he added, calculating the distance to the trees. The crisp air pirckled at his arms, but a cloak of charged youki kept him warm enough. The wind pulled at his tail and the fur wrapped closer around his throat. He flexed his hand around the tattered katana in his hands.

"Good afternoon, Lord Sesshomaru." She smiled lightly, not phased by his sudden appearance. "Prompt and right on time, as expected from a man of your...worth." Turning, her eyes went to his hand already upon his blade's hilt then to his own gold eyes. "Ready? So soon?" She teased idly. "Trying to beat the snow?"

Sesshomaru scoffed quietly. "Not likely. I have no fear of snow. If it snows, it does." He cast his eyes down upon the katana. "I am merely a bit on edge from holding such a plain sword." He scowled slightly, realizing that even the once useless Tenseiga would relieve some of his tension.

"Ah, indeed. It does not suit you." She nodded. "And yet, the rules of this game dictate it's use." She laughed, turning to face him and drawing her own blade, Korosu. Just a simple ninja blade...It exuded no great power, and appeared to be nothing more. "Be a gentleman and restate the rules, will you? I have a terrible memory."

A log sat a slight distance from the soon to be sparring pair. Chrysta chuckled when she heard Kira admit she had a bad memory. "That you do, amica. Hello, my dear Sesshomaru." She said taking a seat on the log.

Kira blinked. "Chrysta." Looking to Sesshomaru, then back again, she smiled nervously. "You may not want to sit there. This could get a bit heated...being too close is not advisable."

Chrysta laughed as she got up, realizing that Kira was right. "If you ask me, anywhere in this vicinity would be 'too close.'" She said giving her friend a playful smirk. "I would be inclined to leave, however this poses to be...quite interesting."
She vanished for a moment before reappearing next to Kira, keeping her back to Sesshomaru. "I'll just watch from the forest, amica." Looking from Kira and taking a peek at Sesshomaru she smiled. "You two have fun." She said before vanishing again. She reappeared on a sturdy branch of an old tree, having a clear view of the two.

Relieved that she was now a safe distance, she wouldn't pay any mind to her presence and be able to focus solely on her opponent. She gave Sesshomaru a small smile, albeit a bit cocky as she waited for him to recite the rules.

Sesshomaru's keen eyes picked her out in the distance and made a mental note to not drift in that direction. He turned back to Kira. "The rules, I believe, were no poison on either of our sides. I cannot use my demon swords, hence this old katana. You may not use your illusions. I am not sure if we decided you could use your bombs or not."

"Hm, I leave it up to you. I don't care either way." She shrugged, playing with the threading on the hilt of her blade.

"I think we should do without the bombs," he murmured, tying an fray on the end of his katana. "Chrysta is still in the area. Bombs are unpredictable."

She mentally cursed. Unpredictable was her biggest asset against him... Smiling brightly, she responded, "Very well~ Rules stated and accepted, are you prepared?" Stopping her playing, her eyes grew serious even though her smile remained as she tightened her clutch on the blade, waiting for his answer.

Sesshomaru took a step back, drawing the katana from its sheathe. "I am. Let the battle commence." He flicked his wrist, narrowing his eyes.

As soon as the word "commence" left his lips, Kira vanished, reappearing behind him in a spinning slash, aimed straight for his neck.
