Kaname waited by the beginning of the path into the obscured hills. Waves of tall grass waved in a light breeze. Dew left gleaming dark emerald trails where animals had leapt through the verdant sea. The path was a dirt trail with white pebbles scattered across it as if to prevent it from disappearing into the grey heights. Mist swirled around the vampire's windswept hair and long coat. A red fox crouched at his heels.

The sound of running footsteps came as Blood came into sight, closing up the distance from where she was coming from and Kaname's post. "Sorry....' she panted, skidding to a halt where he stood. "Got... held up... by scary.. people..." She leaned over, hands on her knees for a moment before rocking back on her heels and straightening up as her breathing caught up with her racing heart, looking up at him. "Thank you for the invention."

Kaname chuckled, lips curled in amusement. He turned to his guest. "There was no need to hurry, Lady Blood. I doubt the mist will clear off these hills that soon." As Kaname moved, the fox at his feet stood. His amber eyes found Blood's in a look of almost indfference. For a moment, the fox held her gaze then swiftly it pounded up the path, tail switching like a cat's. With a small smirk, Kaname offered Blood his hand.

She shrugged, "Time spent with a friend is much better than time alone..." she said, quietly watching the fox until it moved away and then looked back up at Kaname, ears reddening a little as she hesitantly took the offered hand. "Did you get everything taken care of that you needed to?" she asked, referring to the month he had been gone.

"It is indeed," Kaname acknowledged. Taking a firm grip on her hand, he led the way up the path. "I have finished the business of that time, but there is the next step." The mist curled around their feet and a wind stirred in the clustering clouds. Ahead, the fox's tail twitched, remaining just in the corner of their vision.

"The next step?" she asked curiously as she hopped over a fallen branch in the path. Her eyes continued to watch the fox as it darted before them "Are you going away again, or just moer business that requires attending to?"

The mist thickened, hiding their feet. A chill crept through the air. "This is only the beginning to the goal I have been working on, Lady Blood." Thunder echoed in the distance and higher above, a gull cried out. Kaname seemed much more like a shadow in the darkening sky. ""I do not know when I will have to go again. After all, this place is more like a haven. I don't have the liberty of calling it a home."

"But at least you are able to stay for a little while, even if only small periods of time...." she said, squeezing his hand as she glanced up at him for a moment.

At Blood's gentle squeeze, a small smile appeared. Kaname turned his head towards his companion. "Indeed, that is true," he murmured, eyes lighter.

Blood gave him a slight smile, "Then be sure to spend what little time you have here well, yes?"

Kaname nodded and took the left turn on the path.

"Do you know where this path leads to?" she asked curiously, glancing around to see where the mysterious fox had vanished to.

"I do, but" he chuckled lightly, "I will not tell you until we get closer." He waved at the mist in front of them, breaking the palpable wall of grey.

Blood good naturedly rolled her eyes. "Mhmm, suuure you know." she joked. "You're just saying that. You know, I've always quite enjoyed the fog, ever since I was a young child...."

Kaname chuckled quietly. "You may believe what you wish, my lady, but I am glad that you enjoy it. The fog won't be clearing anytime soon." The fox darted underneath their legs and leapt onto a log protruding from the twilight area. It tilted its head.
